With Star Wars and Indiana Jones firmly anchored to their respective pedestals, LucasArts has mastered the practice of tapping into audiences' nostalgia on the eve of a new blockbuster release in the franchises. With the Harrison Ford-led Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull poised to rock the box office this summer, Paramount Pictures and LucasFilm have announced a special edition rerelease of all three Indy films, restored and remastered with all sorts of making-of extras.
Sentimentality thus slaked, LucasFilm will also be synergizing the release with Traveller's Tales' upcoming Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures. Packed in with the DVD sets for Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade will be a PC demo and trailer for Lego Indiana Jones. LucasArts didn't give any indication on what, exactly, the demo will contain.
The demo and special edition rereleases will be available at retail beginning May 13. Lego Indiana Jones is slated to arrive on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DS, Wii, and PC in June.
